When we set out on our adoption journey, we asked close friends of ours who they had adopted through and whether they would recommend that agency. Our friends highly recommended Children’s House International and we looked no further. Children’s House International is amazing! All of my interactions with CHI staff have been positive. CHI answered all of my questions to the best of their knowledge in a timely manner. I felt supported every step of the way through our adoption process and have continued to feel supported in the 15 months since our daughter came home. We were so touched by the kindness and encouragement CHI showed us. We felt truly cared for by CHI! Adopting from Colombia was a wonderful experience! Children’s House International was extremely helpful, they helped us with every step of the adoption paperwork and their team in Colombia was friendly and helpful.
Colombia is a beautiful country. We enjoyed visiting the different areas with our daughter and getting familiar with our daughter’s country and people.
My Husband has to return home after our first week to tend to our other children, at no time did I feel unsafe.

In January 2017, our family saw a notice about a little girl waiting for adoption in Colombia. This little girl would become our youngest daughter, Isabel. Isabel’s file was listed with a different adoption agency. This agency was very nervous about working with a family as large as ours. We had an approved home study and were so hopeful about adopting Isabel, who is Deaf just like our older daughter. We contacted CHI, who read our application and home study carefully but saw in our family potential for Isabel to flourish in our home. They looked beyond just the number of children in our home and saw a family who uses American Sign Language and speaks Spanish, has experience and knowledge about attachment and has love to give! CHI helped our family adopt Isabel in March of 2018. All 13 of us traveled to Colombia to bring Isabel home. This was a once in a lifetime experience for my children, who got to see their new sister’s homeland and got to bond immediately with Isabel. CHI was amazing throughout travel and supported us beautifully upon our arrival home. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We are forever grateful to CHI for bringing us our daughter.
[my wife] and I talked about how impossible it would have been to do all the footwork without guidance. I think I would still be in Olympia, yelling at some bean counter about getting a document apostilled! And in Colombia without Fernando, our driver/paralegal? Forget about it! I don’t think I could even recite all the boxes that needed to be checked off in Colombia, much less the “wheres” and “whos”. No, you guys are heroes and God-sends. You don’t know how many lives you guys have saved and changed. When your jobs feel the darkest and most stressful, think about that for a moment, before you return to the battlefield.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this agency! We have been with CHI for about a year, in the process of adopting a child from Colombia. Carmina, the case manager for Colombia, has been the biggest blessing throughout this process. She’s very thorough, organized, compassionate, and it is very obvious she loves her job and truly cares about all of her clients and the children she’s trying to find forever families for. She’s walked us through every step of the way. I’ve had conversations with numerous people in different departments of the agency and each has been kind, respectful, offered assistance, and a pleasure to speak with. We are traveling to Colombia in the upcoming months to finalize our adoption. I’ve spoken with other families/clients of CHI who’ve recently finalized their Colombian adoption who have shared positive feedback regarding CHI’s assistance while in-country, as well as families who’ve adopted from their China program. We are looking forward to our in-country experience and finally meeting our child. CHI has been an incredible international adoption agency to work with. It didn’t take much research and searching to see that CHI was one of the most respected, trusted, and ethical adoption agencies. And then when working with the staff, we could easily see how they earned their great reputation. We chose China because of CHI’s advocacy for their children. We didn’t know or understand the need for children with special needs in China. We realized that in our desire to adopt a child with special needs, we had inadvertently excluded thousands of children because we didn’t know about their needs.
